Which dictation devices will our clients use to dictate using EMDAT?
EMDAT supports many off-the-shelf digital recorders in addition to telephone and computer based dictation. A full list of all recorders supported can be found here.

How long does it take to get started on EMDAT?
EMDAT software can be fully operational for your transcription company within 3 days.

Does EMDAT support interfaces such as HL7?
EMDAT includes interfacing with 3rd party systems as part of its standard service. Real time HL7 interfaces as well as batch interfaces (Word, PDF, RTF, etc) are not chargeable to you or your client. In the event an interface requires a customized user interface, EMDAT charges $125 per hour for development. With over 11000 medical facilities using EMDAT, EMDAT has only charged for this service twice in its history. Both times, the interface was customized with a user front end designed to meet client specifications.

Will EMDAT help switch my clients to the EMDAT solution?
EMDAT will assist in the implementation of its solution to any and all of your clients. The way EMDAT is structured and the way we charge our transcription companies, it is in our best interest to ensure that medical facilities are seamlessly migrated to EMDAT’s solution without service disruption.

How does my business get charged by EMDAT for software use?
EMDAT charges for all aspects of our service and software on a monthly, per line basis. There are no monthly minimums and you can cancel at any time. A one time implementation fee is required to start with EMDAT but is fully refundable if volume criteria is not met within the first six months of use.

Is my company’s information as well as my client’s information safe?
EMDAT maintains two data centers, both within the Chicago area. Both data centers are fully redundant in every respect (power, internet, servers, etc). In the event EMDAT loses a data center, the other data center is more than capable of handling transactions and internet traffic. All information maintained on the EMDAT servers is only accessible by your transcription company and EMDAT (for support). No other transcription company can see your client or your company’s information.

What happens if I use EMDAT and later decide not to continue with EMDAT services. Can I receive a copy of all transcriptions electronically?
EMDAT has the ability to export all transcriptions in a PDF or text format. This gives you the security of knowing that in the event that you should decide to stop using EMDAT’s services, your transcriptions, for all of your clients, are available to you for future use.

Will my clients see my logo when they use the EMDAT solution?
Yes. The main software used by your clients is branded with your company name and logo. If your clients click on your logo they will be taken to your web page.
