For the Record just published an article, Speech Recognition: A Work in Progress, detailing some of the challenges. While there have been some advances in the technology to better meet the needs of health care, it will never be infallible — the physician will be required to do editing or risk authenticating a report with erroneous information. We believe in the value of a second look. With a documentation specialist in the editing role, not only does physician productivity increase, but so does the accuracy of the documentation. Do you want your clinical documentation to include “stupid” mistakes?

For the first week since Emdat Mobile for iPhone was released in 2010, dictation volume through the mobile apps exceeded InTouch. Telephone dictation has hovered around 19% of total volume for the past few years, and has not seen much decline; however the rapid adoption of smartphones has quadrupled the usage of Emdat Mobile compared to the figure from one year ago.

Emdat is pleased to announce we recently completed our third office relocation in five years compelled by successive business growth. Beginning November 2012, Emdat will begin sharing space with the Wisconsin Medical Society in a building located on the shore of Lake Monona in Madison, WI. Madison, WI and its neighboring cities will host over 7,600
health care executives from across the country as Verona, WI-based Epic Systems Corp. hosts its annual Users' Group Meeting this week.
This year, visitors flying in through the Dane County Airport in Madison will see ads promoting Emdat's dictation solutions and Emdat Mobile app. Three LCD monitors throughout the airport will display the seven-second ad in a three minute rotation throughout the month.
